Seek the Voice, Not the Echo

Welcome to PopUp Cafe
Where Creativity Finds a Home.
Creativity is foundational to all ventures, whether it be in the arts or business. Creativity is not limited to a specific genre but is available to anyone. What we do with creativity is very personal. It stems from the core of our person.
I began playing piano and composing music as a child. I went on to study music and had a wonderful career traveling the globe as a musician, as well as composing and working in studios. I took a short break from playing at one point in my life, and a friend always said, "Once a musician, always a musician." I didn't believe them until 2022.
Between Christmas and New Year's in 2022, I decided I wanted to compose some music, but I didn't have a piano or even a keyboard. I had Amazon points accumulated over the year and used them to purchase a programmable mini keyboard. It had 26 keys, which were tiny compared to a real piano, but I wrote my first song in several years. It was a four-part series called In The Night Watches. The first piece, Deep Magic, sent me into a time of writing music that I hadn't experienced in a couple of decades. It was wonderful.
Being in my little space, writing music was so refreshing; I was missing the joy of connecting with a live, in-person audience. Enter ReSonance. A series of live in-person and online events combining music, video, and spoken word. The resonance of God will always be with us. The resonance of God moves us into new seasons, the vibration of heaven to earth.
Then, late in 2024, I gathered a few friends, and we did a pop-up concert at a local coffee shop. I called it PopUp Cafe. I thought it was a one-time shot-and-done. But it won't let me go. I want more. To connect with people and have a good evening of music and conversation. Off we go then! Let's do this. In 2026, we will host PopUp Cafe events locally in Vacaville.
These gatherings will highlight my music with special guests. Combining music, video, and spoken word, PopUp Cafe events are to encourage and create an atmosphere of connectivity.

Singer/Songwriter
Cayla Corkill

The first time I heard Cayla sing it was like listening to a cross between Nora Jones and Stevie Nicks with a Mid Missouri twist thrown in for good measure. More than the sound was her heart. Later, she told us their story. How life had taken a turn of despair and hopelessness. Unexpected, they fought through holding on to the love of a good Father. She'll sing her Psalms from this season.
