What Sets Us Apart
Karis Project
In 1979, I was invited to lead a team to Guatemala to paint a medical clinic. We spent the summer there, having a blast and learning a little about the culture.
Upon arriving, I had the opportunity to spend time with a family in a small village. My Spanish skills were limited, but the Father worked outside of those limitations for me. It was in that village that I came face-to-face with a heart's desire to help widows and single mothers.
This desire took form in Nicaragua, where we built homes for widows and single mothers until the government faced challenges that closed our operation down. The question wasn't about stopping it was about how to fulfill the desire of my heart.
If we can't be there building homes, why not do something here, in California? Are there not widows and single mothers in need?
In 2025, I began considering how to do this. In 2026, we begin developing our first Karis Project in Solano County. We are working to develop a project that can be replicated around our nation.
One day, Lord willing, we will return to build homes in Nicaragua. Until then, and for the future, we will expand the Karis Project to the United States.
