Challenges are good for us. That's what everybody says when they're not being challenged. When COVID hit, we were all being challenged. From that time, and before, I have been asked on numerous occasions to answer one question.
What is God doing in the world? What is one overriding theme that stands out to me in the body of Christ?

It was a hot California valley day where the breezes were too gentle to make a big difference but so helpful when felt. Where were the Delta breezes when you needed them most? I was talking with my SIL, Sam Vera. He didn't ask me that question, but we were having a good discussion. As we were sipping on ice-cold coffees in 106° heat, I realized how I could answer the question, what is God doing in the world? What major theme have I been hearing in conversations with individuals and groups from around the globe?
I'm attempting to begin a series of writings based on the overriding theme. That place I believe God has for us - if we are listening. As we go through this series, I hope to touch on the what, how, where, when, and why I’m seeing this shift.
In my book Introduction to New Era, I laid a foundation for how we got to this place. It's a great read for you to learn the background or historical significance of this shift. If you haven't read that book, I would encourage you to purchase and read it first. The other option is the short series of videos you will find here on Substack under the tag, New Era. It's part of your subscription. Start with the first video. They are short and very helpful.
Now, on to my initial answer.
What it is not…
▪︎ It is not the study of the Bible, although that is vital to our growth
▪︎ It is not worship, yet it can incorporate worship
▪︎ It is not his presence, but we have access through the one thing to it
▪︎ It is not holiness, but it becomes an outcome of our journey
▪︎ It is not fellowship, but fellowship is necessary for our mental, emotional, and spiritual health
So, what is it?
It is a practice, possibly an art that we have sequestered and agendized but will never be fully available under those conditions. Conditions placed upon it will limit the fullest measure of its depth. Any guesses as to what I’m referring to?
It is so simple that we often consider it the one unspoken thing. Like an unspoken rule. “Everyone knows that,” we say. Have you figured it out? One word, one thing, our pursuit, our life, our goal, our purpose, our endeavor, our true love - Jesus!
With that, I leave you with this question: How is your journey with Jesus going? Is he becoming the One Thing in your life that opens the door to all things?
This is one question of many to come. Welcome to the One thing I have consistently discovered is the desire of the nations - at least the nations I'm connected with. To be in, experience, live, and delve deeply into the heart of Jesus.

As I have related with and talked to many people across the social, political, theological, etc. spectrums of life, I choose to focus on the One Thing of eternal value, the Center of all life and happiness: Jesus, the Savior of the world, the only one that can fill the aching void in our hearts. Yes, I long “to be in, experience, live, and delve deeply into the heart of Jesus.”
